Our Core Volues

Faith: Faith is confidence in what we hope for.
Even if we don’t see it we will step out boldly, knowing that God will do it.
Hope: When we look forward, we find difficulties.
When we look back, we find the tears we have shed.
When we look up and focus our eyes on God, we find hope.
Love: Only God provides unconditional love.
We are touched by that love, and we live and walk in it.
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love."
(1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)

Our Statement of Faith

Since the Apostles’ Creed describes uniting points of belief for Christians but is not an exhaustive statement of beliefs, the following is our Statement of Faith derived and expanded from the Apostles’ Creed.

We Believe …
The Bible: The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21), without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of humans (2 Tim. 3:15), and Divine and the final authority for all Christian faith and life (Rev. 22:18-19; 2 Tim. 3:17; Rom. 15:4).

God of the Trinity: One God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1-2; John 1:1-14; Col. 16-17). The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are equally God and the only God and attributes (Luke 1:35; Mt. 3:16-17). This God of Trinity exists eternally in three distinct persons (John 5:19; 17:12; Luke 9:29).

The Father: God the Father reigns and disposes of all things according to His truth and love eternally (Job 42:2; Ps. 9:8; 22:28; 33:5, 11). As Creator, He continually upholds and governs all creatures and events (Ps. 24:1; 50:6; 90:2; Rev. 19:6).

Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary (Col. 1:15; Phil. 2:6-8; 1 Jh. 4:2; 5:20; Luke 1:26-38). He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins (Rom. 4:25). Further, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate (Acts 1:3, 9; Rm. 8:34; Heb. 4:14-15).

The Holy Spirit: The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Christ (John 16:14), convict humans (John 16:8), regenerate the believing sinner (John 3:5-8), indwell (1 Cor. 3:16), guide and instruct (Gal. 5:25), and empower the believer for godly living and service (Gal. 5:16, 22-23; Acts 9:31). The Holy Spirt gives the believer a special ability in specific moments to do what His calling them to do (e.g., Acts 4:8; 6:10). The Holy Spirit gives various Spiritual gifts to believers according to His will for building up the church and one another (1 Cor. 12:11; 14:3-5, 12, 26).

Humankind: God created humanity – male and female – equally in God’s own image (Gen. 1:26-28). This divinely determined distinction is good, proper, and to be celebrated (Gen. 1:31). Maleness and femaleness are biologically determined at conception and are not subject to change as God created so and blessed (Gen. 5:1-2). We affirm God’s design for marriage, which is for one woman and one man living in a one-flesh, covenantal, and sexual relationship until the separation by death (Gen. 2:24-25; 4:1; Mt. 19.3-6; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; 1 Pet. 3:1-7). Humankind fell into sin and is therefore lost (Gen. 3:6-13; Eph. 2:3). Only through repentance from sin and faith toward God, through the Gospel, regeneration by the Holy Spirit, can salvation and spiritual life be obtained (Acts 2:38; 20:21; John 16:8, 13).

Salvation: The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and such who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 3:24; Gal. 2:16; 3:16).

Ordinances: Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age (Mt. 28:19; 1 Cor. 11:23-26). They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation (1 Pet. 3:21).

The Church: The true Church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ (Eph. 1:23; 2:21). As Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its affairs (Eph. 5:23).

Eternal State: In the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, the “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer (Phil. 3:12-14, 20; 1 Thess. 4:14-17). In the bodily resurrection of the dead, the believer will receive everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, while the unbeliever will receive judgment and eternal conscious punishment (Mt. 25:31-46).
