The gospel

We often hear pastors preach: "Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.” Why do they repeat this over and over again? Because this is the heart of Christianity. This is part of the gospel (Good News)

​Paul preached in 1 Corinthians 15:3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. (1 Corinthians 15:3-5, NIV)

This is the authentic gospel Paul received and preached. The gospel is about Jesus and his life. The gospel completes the story of Israel in the Old Testament (“according to the Scriptures.”)

​Paul says that if we firmly believe this gospel we will be saved.
