An Ethiopian eunuch was on his way home along a desert road after visiting Jerusalem for worship. He was a high official of the Queen of Ethiopia. He was reading a passage from Isaiah in his chariot, but could not understand it.
The Spirit of God sent Philip to this high official. Philip explained the passage and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. The official believed and was baptized by Philip. This is written in Acts 8. It is no coincidence that Philip was in the right place at the right time to evangelize that official. It was God who sent Philip there. As a result, that official understood the Word of God, believed in Jesus Christ, and was saved. Just as God put Philip in the right place at the right time, God has already put us in the right place at the right time to share the gospel. When you are reading the Bible, or in your quiet time, do you ever have thoughts pop into your head that have nothing to do with what you are reading? It happens to me often. When this happens, I lose focus on what I am reading and start worrying about what has popped into my head. At the same time, I worry that I am not concentrating on the Bible. Last Sunday, Pastor Kudo talked about God and worry, and how your worry gets in between you and God. The above situation is just that. At a time when I should be focused on God, worry is occupying my mind. As a result, I feel like I am an unfaithful Christian. If this happens to you, don't worry! There is a way. Write down the thing that popped into your head. Put it out of your mind and continue reading the Bible. If another thought comes to mind, write it down again and continue. This practice helps me and I hope it will help you too. Connect with us! |
